Twenty years, one idea
We take care of the human in front of us. Some days that's a manicure and an hour that belongs to you. Some days it's someone in cancer treatment who was told they couldn't get their nails done anymore, or someone whose skin reacts to everything. Our Roses are trained for all of it: Reiki-certified, trained in oncology protocols and for chemical sensitivities, with trauma-informed and gender-affirming training.
Chicago's first non-toxic spa and clean beauty shop
Every product on our shelves and every service on our menu is chosen with intention for health and safety. Our hand-made House Line is made in small batches in our Naperville lab and used in your service. And we're non-tipping: the price on the menu is the whole price, because every Rose is a W-2 employee on a living wage with paid leave and benefits.
Meet our founder, Jenny Duranski
I've been a licensed nail technician since 2003. A few years in, the products I used every day were making me sick: rashes, allergies, trouble breathing at work. I was forced to choose between my health or my career, so I built what I couldn't find. A mobile spa came first in 2006, then a storefront, and on 4 December 2016, Lena Rose. Lincoln Square followed in 2019 and downtown Naperville in 2023. This December we turn ten.
Before Lena Rose, Jenny's earlier businesses were featured in The New York Times, Self, Entrepreneur, Crain's Chicago Business and Brides.

From the Ground Up
2016: Lena Rose Opens
Chicago's first clean beauty spa and wellness shop opened on 4 December 2016, with free parties, free manicures and local brands on the shelves.
2019: Lincoln Square
We moved to 4645 N. Rockwell St. in Lincoln Square, a short walk from the Rockwell Brown Line. It's still home.
2020: The House Line
When the pandemic closed our doors, we launched our hand-made House Line and online store, and delivered orders by hand.
2023: Downtown Naperville
Our second shop opened at 14 W. Jackson Ave. in downtown Naperville, with the same menu and the same prices.
2026: Ten Years

Our House Line
Our House Line started in the treatment room: the scrubs, butters and oils Jenny made for services became the ones guests kept asking to take home. Every batch is still made by hand in small batches in our Naperville lab, organic and local wherever we can source it, in glass jars and compostable pouches. The same products are used in your service.
Our low-plastic promise
Five years ago I said we’d be plastic-free by 2025. Then the pandemic hit. For almost two years the pumps and bottles we depend on went to make hand sanitizer, and the supply chain is still recovering from all that stoppage and new demand. Glass is only now coming back to normal, and that finally lets us seek out eco-friendly sourcing again. I’ll say it plainly: plastic-free isn’t a realistic goal in a post-COVID world. As low-plastic as possible is, and that’s my promise now.
Our glass jars and metal lids are done; the pumps on our lotions and the thin liner inside each lid are still plastic. Here’s what we have done: 642 pounds of beauty waste to TerraCycle since 2020, 408 pounds of scraps to compost since 2021, and composting in Naperville now too. And here’s our next step, with a date: from November 1, every holiday gift order we ship goes out with no new plastic.
