Advocacy & Community Work
Beauty with a Backbone
Our Advocacy
In 2016 I stood at a podium in the United States Senate to speak on cosmetic safety reform. I wasn't there as an expert. I was there because I got sick doing this job, and because laws about what goes on your body should be written with input from the people who work with these products every day.
I signed the Compact for Safe Cosmetics in 2006, back when I was running Head 2 Toe, my mobile spa, doing nails in people's homes and offices — ten years before Lena Rose existed. Every company I have had since has carried that commitment forward — Noktivo and Lena Rose included. Twenty years later we're still with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, still pushing for ingredient transparency, honest labeling, and protections for salon workers — who are overwhelmingly women, and disproportionately women of color.

Cosmetic Safety Efforts
We believe it’s essential to stand up and show up for what we value—safer products, transparent practices, and a more conscious beauty industry. As the world of beauty continues to evolve, we remain committed to learning, engaging, and taking action. From supporting the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics to continually seeking ways to drive awareness and reform, our founder Jenny and the Lena Rose team are dedicated to being part of meaningful change. We strive to ignite awareness, inspire progress, and educate others—because better beauty begins with advocacy.
Fair Labor & Ethical practices
We operate as a non-tipping salon because we believe in pay transparency, livable wages, and fair labor standards. Gratuity is always included in our service pricing—ensuring our team is respected, compensated, and valued for their expertise. We reject outdated norms that put pressure on guests and workers alike, and instead foster a culture of care and equity.
Safer Standards in Beauty
Our founder, Jenny, is a long-time advocate for safer working conditions in the beauty industry. In 2016, she traveled to Washington D.C. as a business member of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, where she shared her personal story with legislators. Jenny spoke firsthand about the health risks salon professionals face from under-regulated products and why federal reform is urgently needed to protect workers and consumers alike.
Women Owned + Black Owned Beauty
We are proud to support women-owned and Black-owned brands that align with our clean and green beauty mission. Representation matters—and so does access. We use our platform and purchasing power to uplift underrepresented voices in beauty and ensure a more inclusive, equitable future for the industry.
Whole Body Wellness
Beauty shouldn’t compromise your health. We only work with brands that share our commitment to non-toxic, holistic, and health-supportive formulas. As advocates for safe cosmetics and informed consumer choice, we continually educate ourselves and our community about what we put on—and in—our bodies.

We’re Not Just in Business—We’re in This for Good.
Advocacy isn’t a campaign. It’s a choice we make daily:
To do better. To push for progress. To use our voice and our business for something bigger than beauty.
