We lobby. For more than twenty years our founder has worked to get toxic chemicals out of nail salons, and we are proud of it. Here is how we do it.

We only ever advocate for things that make people or the planet safer, chiefly getting harmful ingredients out of personal care and protecting the salon workers who handle them. That has meant lobbying in Washington in 2016 for the Personal Care Products Safety Act alongside Breast Cancer Prevention Partners and the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, supporting the federal Safer Beauty Bill Package and Illinois Public Act 104-0545, which bans 24 toxic chemicals from salons by 2028. Every position we take rests on real science: peer-reviewed research and government hazard assessments.

The business gives no money and no in-kind support to political candidates, parties or campaigns, and we never offer, give or accept a bribe, gift or favor to influence a public official. We work alongside the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics business network, and each year we check that the groups we lobby with still stand for what we stand for; if they don't, we say so or step away.

Jenny Duranski, owner, approves this policy, is accountable for it, reviews it every December, and any Rose who speaks for Lena Rose on policy follows it. Each year we log what we advocated for and check it against these rules. Concerns about our advocacy can be raised through our grievance procedure.
